A Minnesota sublease agreement is used by a tenant that is looking to have someone else rent a portion or the entire space that he or she is currently leasing. The term for the sublease cannot be for a longer period of time than the original or “master” lease agreement. The original tenant or “Sublessor” is directly responsible for any new tenant or “Sublessee”. This means that if the sublessee does not pay rent or refuses to leave the premises that the sublessor is not only responsible for paying the landlord as stated in the master lease but also any evictions that take place.
